Farewell Chris

Christopher Moine (1977-2026)
It is with great sadness that I have to report my good friend, and fellow MAC member, Chris Moine passed away recently after succumbing to a long term illness.
You may have seen him at St Erth from time to time as regularly popped down with his friends and his youngest daughter over the last 5 years.
He was a keen carp angler and particularly loved the simple art of surface fishing. Over the years, he walked many a mile at various SW venues, carefully flicking a freelined lump of crust in the path of cruising carp and I particularly remember him stalking a beautiful fully scaled mirror up and down Garras lake for hours until he landed his prize. He was particularly excited on this capture as, despite fishing for decades, he'd never caught 'a 20' and agonisingly the needle swung just short of the barrier at 19lbs 14oz. Characteristically he valued the beauty of the fish more than it's weight and I was delighted to see him finally break this barrier later in the year at Stafford Moor in Devon, a venue he also came to love.
But he loved St Erth too as he loved action, and that's what St Erth mean't to him, a local pool he could pop down to and almost guarantee a bite, plus a perfect venue to encourage his kids to fish. Indeed his love for St Erth was cemented on his first visit as a member, when he managed to land one of the lake's finest, a lovely 14lbs linear mirror (pictured above).
Rest in peace Chris and I'll see you again in the sunshine one day x
